The Adelaide Hills Farmers’ Markets, Inc.

The Adelaide Hills Farmers’ Markets (AHFM) are community events that add significant social, health and economic benefits to the region. The AHFM was established by a group of dedicated Hills residents that had a vision to promote fresh, seasonal, regional food and to establish community events that provides for an enjoyable and authentic Hills experience.

The AHFM is a ‘true farmers’ market’ – it is a market built around sustainability, that specialises in regional, fresh and seasonal products sold directly from those people that grow them. The market stalls offer a range of green and field vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts, seeds and any other products that can be grown or are made from primary products.

A variety of fresh, seasonal and local products

Over 25 stallholders set up ‘shop’ every Saturday morning and sell their goods to customers from 8.30am to 12.30midday. The colourful tents at 23 Mann Street can be seen from the main road with locals and visitors to the region adding this friendly country market as a must do. Customers can buy fresh produce, flowers, plants, bread, eggs, meat, small goods, wine, juices, jams, condiments, chutneys, fresh pasta, olive oil, honey and anything else that is either grown or produced in the region. There is freshly ground coffee, hot food, pies, sausage rolls and pasties and a terrific selection of vegetarian and gluten free food offerings. The smells, colour and textures of the food are rich, as is the unique community with a family-friendly atmosphere. The Artisans’ Market runs in conjunction with the Farmers’ Markets on the first Saturday of the month, selling local, handmade arts and crafts.

Members support the Markets

Customers can buy fresh, local and seasonal products while supporting the local economy. The AHFM offers membership at low $50* per year, or 85 cents a week. In return the member will receive a 10% discount on all full priced products from stallholders while enjoying a fun day out with the family (including furkids), eating beautiful brekkies, listening to local musicians and catching up with friends in a great atmosphere. All membership dues go straight back into running your market, employing a market manager, maintaining market facilites and adding to your market experience with informative and fun workshops, presentations and kids activities. (N.B.: *membership is pro-rata over the year, health and pension card holders can get a member for a day pass for $1 at the info stall).

Who is behind the market?

The AHFM is an incorporated, not-for-profit association and operates in accordance with the Constitution of the AHFM. The committee is comprised of volunteers who do their best to keep the markets running smoothly through their varied expertise and contributions. We also have regular market volunteers that sit at the info tent and help with other activities throughout the year.

Our food has a face.

One of the major advantages that customers will experience is the direct contact with the persons that grow or make the food on offer. So, our food and produce has a face and we are proud of it.
